Eden Looney was born in California, where she started dancing at the tender age of three. She has studied ballet, jazz, tap, free style hip hop and was accepted into the Marie Stinnett Dance Company in Northern California.
At thirteen years of age Eden started taking tennis lessons and excelled very quickly from beginner to advance.
In junior high, she was asked to play for the girls varsity high school tennis team, and with much practice excelled from number one doubles to number one singles all through her high school career.
In college, Eden was Rolex, State and National Champion. Then went on to play exhibition matches in Southern California.
Eden started fitness training in 2004 and helped build a successful fitness business while living in Southern California.
Eden was offered to train and travel on the WTA Women’s Professional Tennis Tour with former number one in the world, Maria Sharapova. But, unfortunately life took a drastic turn for Eden when she was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA), sadly complicated further by both her wrists being fractured purposely by someone in her life she had trusted.
In 2011 she underwent major orthopedic surgery in Santa Barbara, California and still bears the metal plates in her wrists and scars of this ordeal.
After one and a half years of her recovering process in Marco Island, Eden started her own company, “Eden ROCKS Movement with a Purpose.” Focusing on the importance of correct movement, posture, balance, strength, flexibility and endurance. Tying it to tennis conditioning and cardio dance. “ In order to not allow the RA auto immune disease to fully take over me, my rheumatologist doctors said I had to have a strong core and keep moving. That’s how the whole idea for my company came into play. I had to keep moving the right way, strengthening my spine in order to continue any mobility. So why not share it with the rest of the world?”
Eden has been teaching Barre for almost four years. Eden is IBBFA (International Ballet Barre Fitness Association) Certified in association with the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM).
Eden continues to teach Barre at Modern Steps School of Dance. And enjoys Ballroom Dancing.
“I believe in endless possibilities. And though no one can go back and make a brand new start, I believe anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.”~ Eden Looney
